Scheduling When setting your "permit" date, build in a reasonable amount of lead time for The Permit Guy and the cognizant city to accept and process the permit application. Keep in mind the following:
Boston requires that signs be posted a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the move date.
Brookline requires that signs be posted a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the move date. Cambridge requires that the permit application be submitted "six (6) business days prior to the move date". Somerville permit application be submitted "six (6) business days prior to the move date".

Conditions
Approval The Permit Guy is not responsible for the denial of a permit application by the city.
Snow Be flexible with your "permit dates" during the winter. When it snows, the cities have no place to put it. The snow is merely plowed to the side of the street. This condition makes a narrow street hazardous. In the past, some parking permits have been refused citing public safety because of the inability of fire fighting equipment to get through the "permitted area."
Limitations The city may restrict the hours and/or type of vehicle operation.
